The exercise was led by Base Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Andy Pompey, with the support of officers and sergeant majors, and involved a comprehensive verification of troop strength and accountability. It also included inspections focused on operational readiness, the condition and serviceability of field equipment, and overall adherence to GDF standards of appearance and conduct.

Base Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Andy Pompey addresses the gathering

Speaking during the formation, Lt Col Pompey commended the ranks for their continued dedication to duty and service, particularly during this period of heightened operational activity. He reminded them that readiness begins with discipline, and encouraged all personnel to remain vigilant and professional in the execution of their daily responsibilities.

Following the parade, the troops gathered at the Ordinary Ranks Mess for a Church Service officiated by the Force Chaplain. The spiritual observance, which was attended by Colonel General Staff, Captain (Coast Guard) Vernon Burnett, offered a moment of reflection, unity, and upliftment for all in attendance.

These activities, which blended military formality with spiritual encouragement, serve to bolster both the morale and mission focus of the troops. The GDF continues to place priority on maintaining a state of constant readiness while nurturing the mental and moral welfare of its personnel.

Base Camp Stephenson continues to play a critical role in the operational framework of the Guyana Defence Force, and activities such as these underscore the Force’s commitment to operational excellence and the holistic development of its ranks.
