Celebrating 58 Years

Lieutenant Colonel Natasha Stanford-Francis
Commanding Officer, Women’s Army Corps

On this special occasion, we proudly celebrate fifty-eight years of excellence, resilience, and service by the dedicated women of the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) of the Guyana Defence Force.
From the historic moment in 1967, when the first four female officers paved the way, to today’s generation of strong, skilled, and courageous women in uniform, your contributions continue to shape the legacy of our military.

Throughout the years, you have proven that strength knows no gender, and your unwavering commitment to duty, discipline, and service to our nation stands as an inspiration to all. Whether in administrative roles or on the front lines of defence, you have answered the call with dedication and honour.

As we mark this milestone, and guided by our theme “Transforming Women to Better Confront Present and Future Challenges by Enhancing Awareness, Adaptability, and Agility Capabilities,” let us reflect on the sacrifices, achievements, and progress made, and let us continue to push forward with the same pride, purpose, and perseverance that have defined the Women’s Army Corps for over half a century.

I extend heartfelt gratitude and admiration to all past and present members of the Women’s Army Corps. Your service is invaluable, your legacy is enduring, and your future is bright.
