Today, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) once again demonstrated its commitment to national service by providing critical air support to the Ministry of Health (MoH) for the transfer of post- and pre-surgical patients between remote hinterland communities.
The GDF Air Corps conducted a coordinated mission across the locations of Ogle, Port Kaituma, and Bemichi. The operation involved multiple transfers aimed at ensuring timely medical attention for individuals requiring urgent care.
Commanding the aircraft was Major Loyden Layne, with Major Darell Britton serving as the Air Operations Officer and Sergeant Kevin David completing the dedicated crew. Their combined professionalism and efficiency ensured the mission was executed seamlessly across all sectors.
This mission was also notable as it showcased the operational impact of one of the GDF’s recently acquired aviation assets. The enhanced capabilities offered by this platform are significantly strengthening both the Force’s civil support operations and its overall reach into the hinterland.
By working in close partnership with the Ministry of Health, the GDF continues to fulfill its mandate of national service, ensuring that even the most remote communities have access to essential healthcare support. In regions where infrastructure remains a challenge, the Force’s aviation capabilities are often the only viable link to life-saving services.
These collaborative efforts highlight the GDF’s enduring motto, “Service,” and reaffirm its vital role in supporting national development and humanitarian priorities across Guyana.
