The Guyana Defence Force (GDF), in collaboration with the Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team (LAMAT), recently conducted a Combat Life-Saving training exercise at Base Camp Stephenson, Timehri.
The training specifically targeted students undergoing training from the Standard Officer Course (SOC) #57 and the Senior Leader Course (SLC) #14, with the aim of enhancing their ability to provide critical medical care in combat and other high-pressure operational environments. Participants engaged in a dynamic mix of classroom instruction and hands-on field exercises, focusing on life-saving techniques such as bleeding control, airway management, and casualty evacuation under fire.

This Combat Life-Saving exercise marks yet another initiative under the growing collaboration between the GDF and LAMAT. The two entities have engaged in a series of joint efforts aimed at strengthening medical readiness, improving tactical care capabilities, and promoting regional cooperation among military forces in the Caribbean.
The GDF’s continued partnership with LAMAT underscores a shared commitment to capacity building, knowledge exchange, and the overall enhancement of operational readiness at all levels of command.

As the regional security landscape evolves, initiatives like these are vital in ensuring that military personnel remain prepared to respond effectively in crisis situations, both in Guyana and across the wider Caribbean.
