A contingent of officers and ranks of the Guyana Defence Force has returned to base following its successful deployment to French Guiana for Exercise Fer de Lance 2025. The multinational military engagement focused on enhancing tactical proficiency, regional interoperability, and joint response capabilities in areas such as jungle warfare, humanitarian assistance, and counter-trafficking operations.

The exercise provided a robust training environment that tested operational endurance, leadership, and coordination under realistic and high-pressure scenarios. Participation allowed GDF troops to refine mission-critical skills and adapt to multi-force operations within a dynamic and unfamiliar operational theatre.

The exercise also presented a valuable opportunity for the Force to assess and enhance its standard operating procedures in line with regional best practices. Lessons learnt will be integrated into future training cycles and mission planning to further bolster operational effectiveness.
Exercise Fer de Lance 2025 reaffirmed the GDF’s commitment to regional security cooperation, force readiness, and the continuous professional development of its ranks.
