The Guyana Defence Force proudly demonstrated its professionalism and commitment to national service during the inauguration ceremony of His Excellency Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, the Ninth Executive President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, on Sunday.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan, MSS, together with senior officers of the Force, were in attendance to mark the occasion. Their presence signified the unity of military leadership and the GDF’s recognition of the office and authority of the Commander-in-Chief.

At State House, GDF troops mounted a ceremonial parade to render honours, supported by the Guard of Honour, the Corps of Drums, and the GDF Band. The flawless display of drill, precision, and discipline highlighted the traditions of the military and the values upheld by the Force.
The inauguration was further marked by a coordinated fly-past by the GDF Air Corps along the Kingston Seawall. Featuring the Force’s newly acquired aircraft, the salute symbolised both honour to the President and the expanding capabilities of Guyana’s air defence.
Through its active participation in this national milestone, the GDF reaffirmed its constitutional mandate, its recognition of the Commander-in-Chief’s office and authority, and its enduring commitment to the people of Guyana and the safeguarding of the nation’s sovereignty.
