Joint Service Coordinating Council

Composition

The JSCC brings together Guyana’s foremost security and emergency agencies under one umbrella, ensuring seamless cooperation. Its core members include:

  • Guyana Defence Force (GDF): The nation’s primary military body, responsible for territorial defense and disaster response.
  • Guyana Police Force (GPF): Leading law enforcement, focused on crime prevention and public order.
  • Guyana Fire Service (GFS): Specializing in fire prevention, rescue operations, and hazard management.
  • Guyana Prison Service (GPS): Managing custodial facilities and rehabilitation programs.
  • Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU): Combating drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.
  • Other critical agencies, such as the Civil Defence Commission (CDC), may collaborate during national emergencies.

Mandate

The JSCC is mandated to:

Leadership

Chairman of the JSCC:
The Council is chaired by the Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force.
