The Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan, MSS, along with Officers and Ranks of the Guyana Defence Force, extends congratulations to Captain Jermis Batson on the successful completion of the Logistics Staff Officer Course at the PLA Joint Logistics Support Force University of Engineering in Chongqing, People’s Republic of China.

The course, conducted from 1st September 2024 to 8th July 2025, is regarded as one of the most comprehensive and strategically important programmes in military logistics. It brought together military professionals from 48 nations and provided a platform for international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and applied training in operational logistics.

Captain Jermis Batson

Captain Batson’s training encompassed a broad range of critical areas, including logistics command and control, sustainment planning at the brigade and regiment levels, logistics defence tactics, equipment maintenance and support systems, as well as modern, network-based logistics frameworks. The curriculum was delivered through an integrated format of lectures, scenario-based simulations, and rigorous field exercises, ensuring that participants were equipped to support multi-domain operations under diverse and demanding conditions.

Captain Batson graduated with the designation of Qualified Logistics Staff Officer (QLSO), a professional certification that reflects his readiness to assume advanced leadership responsibilities in the logistics domain. His accomplishment represents a strategic enhancement to the Force’s operational capabilities, particularly in supporting deployments across Guyana’s interior and border regions where mobility, endurance, and sustainment are mission critical.

This young Officer’s achievement speaks to the GDF’s broader commitment to building a modern, capable, and future-ready Officer Corps. His expertise will support the continued development of logistics doctrine, the effective execution of operational planning, and the strengthening of institutional readiness in response to the evolving regional security landscape.

Moreover, his participation and performance on the international stage reinforces the GDF’s commitment to deepening global defence partnerships. His success has helped to further strengthen the bonds of military cooperation between the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and the People’s Republic of China, particularly in the areas of professional military education and strategic planning.

The Guyana Defence Force is proud of Captain Batson’s representation and commends him on this significant achievement. His journey is not only commendable but also positions him as a valuable asset to the Force and to Guyana’s broader national defence framework.

The Guyana Defence Force sincerely thanks the People’s Liberation Army Joint Logistics Support Force University of Engineering and the Government of China for their warm hospitality and exceptional support throughout the course. The expertise and professionalism of the PLA instructors greatly enhanced the training experience.
