PRIVATE SECTOR COMMISSION ENGAGES GDF ON ELECTIONS PREPAREDNESS

Today, the leadership of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), led by Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier Omar Khan, MSS met with senior members of the Private Sector Commission (PSC) to discuss the GDF’s preparedness for the 2025 General and Regional Elections. This engagement was held at the request of the PSC as part of their independent observer mission during the election period.

Brigadier Khan highlighted that the GDF will continue to play a supportive role to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) in maintaining public safety and order, as required by law. He reiterated that the GDF remains apolitical, professional, and committed to upholding the Constitution of Guyana.

He further emphasized that GDF ranks remain vigilant and resolute in defending the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the nation. Moreover, the GDF will continue to work collaboratively with national stakeholders to ensure a safe and secure environment for all Guyanese during the elections period and beyond.
