Guyana Defence Force Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Andy Pompey recently participated in the Caribbean Security and Defence Course (CSDC) 2025, held at the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies, National Defense University, Washington, D.C.
The short course brought together military and civilian professionals from across the Caribbean and Latin America to explore key issues in regional security, defence policy, and strategic cooperation. Topics covered included national security strategy, cyber and maritime threats, disaster response, and inter-agency collaboration.
As part of the programme, Lt Col Pompey delivered a presentation titled “Guyana: ICJ Decision Implications for Guyana,” during the course’s Perry Talk segment, which offered reflections on the geopolitical and policy considerations surrounding Guyana’s territorial case and adding to the regional dialogue on security and sovereignty.
While brief, the course offered a platform for professional exchange and continued development. It forms part of Lt Col Pompey’s ongoing contribution to the Force’s broader strategic outlook and this participation adds to a career marked by steady professional development and ongoing contributions to the Guyana Defence Force.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan, MSS, noted that such engagements enhance the GDF’s regional awareness and strengthen its network of partnerships across the hemisphere.
