Sergeant (SGT) Daniella Castillion’s journey within the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) is a powerful example of dedication, adaptability, and the pursuit of excellence.

Following her completion of the Basic Recruit Course in 2008, she went on to receive training as a store personnel, contributing to the Base Office at Base Camp Ayanganna and later the Public Relations and Education Department.

SGT Castillion’s path took an exciting turn when she moved to the Band Corps. Even without a musical background, SGT Castillion embraced the challenge when encouraged to try drumming. Her role as the In Charge (IC) Stores soon transformed into a musical journey, where she found her rhythm and became an integral part of the predominantly male Corps of Drums. This opportunity has led her to become an accomplished drummer and IC of the Corps of Drums.

In addition to her musical accomplishments, SGT Castillion has completed numerous military courses, including the Junior All Arms Ordnance Course and the Junior Leader Course. She is currently working to attain certification in Occupational Health and Safety at the Guyana Learning Institute.

This drive for excellence and self-improvement has earned her recognition beyond her military duties. In 2015, SGT Castillion’s outstanding leadership, confidence, and charisma secured her the title of Miss GDF, an achievement that reflects her dedication to discipline and excellence in all aspects of her career.
