Women’s Army Corps (WAC) continues its 58th anniversary celebration with yet another significant activity. Today, WAC demonstrated its deep appreciation for military veterans by donating gym equipment to the National Veterans Rest Home in Georgetown.
This initiative aimed to support the well-being of those who have dedicated their lives to serving the nation. Alongside the donation, WAC also hosted a special program to honour the veterans, fostering a sense of unity and gratitude.
The event provided an opportunity for camaraderie, reflection, and appreciation. Addressing the gathering, the Commanding Officer of WAC, Lieutenant Colonel Natasha Standford-Francis, emphasized the significance of supporting those who paved the way for today’s military personnel. She highlighted that the initiative was a testament to WAC’s unwavering belief that veterans are the pillars upon which proud military traditions stand. Hence, honouring them should go beyond words and include tangible actions that enhance their well-being and demonstrate enduring gratitude.
In that regard, among the donations were two stationary gym bikes (fitted with label plates), two mirrors, a sound system, and gym mats, all aimed at enhancing the physical fitness resources available at the home. This act of generosity was met with heartfelt appreciation from the veterans. As the officers and ranks in attendance were warmly welcomed by the veterans, who reminisced about their years of service, shared wisdom, and recounted experiences that underscored the sacrifices made in defense of the nation. The exchange of stories fostered a sense of unity and respect between past and present service members, reinforcing the enduring legacy of military service.
Through this initiative, WAC reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that those who once served with honour continue to lead healthy and active lives. As WAC celebrates 58 years of excellence, it remains steadfast in its mission to empower, uplift, and honor those who have served before.
