As part of the ongoing 58th Anniversary celebrations of the Women’s Army Corps (WAC), a Women Empowerment and Security Engagement was held today at the Auditorium, Base Camp Ayanganna. The event brought together female officers and ranks from various units and bases across the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) to participate in meaningful discussions, voice their concerns, and receive guidance on matters affecting their roles and careers.

This engagement provided a vital platform for women in the GDF to exchange ideas, express their views, and explore ways to enhance professional growth and development. Many of the discussions held will undoubtedly contribute to the continued advancement of women within the Force.
A key highlight of today’s session was a presentation on the history of the Women’s Army Corps, which detailed its evolution over the years, significant milestones, and the transition from traditional roles to more diverse and integral positions within the GDF. The presentation underscored the progress made in empowering female service members and the Corps’ impact on the broader military landscape.
The Women’s Army Corps remains committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, strength, and leadership among its ranks as it continues to pave the way for future generations of women in the GDF.
