The Guyana Defence Force (GDF), in collaboration with the Florida National Guard and Air Force South, deepened its strategic defence partnership with the United States through a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) focused on cybersecurity and cyber defence. The engagement underscored the joint commitment of both organisations to enhancing cyber resiliency and strengthening operational effectiveness in the digital domain.
Hosted by the GDF’s Signal Corps, the exchange involved officers and ranks from the Cybersecurity Department and the Information and Technology Department. Cyber experts from the Florida National Guard facilitated the sessions, which featured a series of collaborative presentations, discussions, and hands-on exchanges with GDF cyber operators.

This SMEE formed part of a wider series of bilateral exchanges held between the GDF and the US military, reflecting a robust and evolving defence partnership. These professional military engagements served as strategic investments in capability development, interoperability, and the continuous professional education of cyber personnel on both sides.
The Cybersecurity and Cyber Defence SMEE addressed several critical areas, including cyber resiliency, defensive cyberspace operations, cyber workforce development, and cyber domain awareness. Presentations from both the GDF and US delegations enabled the sharing of real-world tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), fostering mutual learning and operational growth.
As the GDF continues its transformation into a more adaptive and technologically capable force, this SMEE demonstrated its proactive approach to addressing modern security threats. The exchange strengthened national security readiness, advanced institutional knowledge, and reinforced the GDF’s commitment to building a resilient and future-ready cyber defence posture.
This engagement further affirmed the enduring cooperation between Guyana and the United States, while contributing meaningfully to regional stability and collective cyber awareness.
