The Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan, MSS, Officers and Ranks of the Guyana Defence Force congratulate Corporals (CPL) Edem Roseval and Teo Lindey, and Able Rating (AR) Mark Bharret, on their recent academic achievements through the Ministry of Health.

CPL Roseval successfully earned the Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate after a year of dedicated study. This programme has equipped him with valuable diagnostic skills that will further strengthen the GDF’s medical services and enhance its ability to deliver timely and accurate health support to its personnel.

Additionally, CPL Lindey and AR Bharret completed the nine-month Pharmacy Assistant Certificate programme, which included modules in Pharmacology (Parts 1 and 2), Good Dispensing Practices, Communication, the Health Care System, Computer Skills, and Store Management. The course also provided practical exposure at various health facilities, allowing participants to apply their training in real-world settings. Notably, AR Bharret graduated with distinction, placing second in his cohort and receiving an award from the Ministry for his exceptional performance.

The significance of these achievements was underscored by the presence of the Commanding Officer of the GDF Medical Corps, Lieutenant Colonel Dr Nigel Langhorne, who attended the graduation ceremony to personally support and commend the graduates on their success.

With these professional qualifications, the ranks are now better positioned to make more meaningful contributions within their respective departments, strengthening the GDF’s medical support capabilities and improving the quality of care provided to its members.

The Guyana Defence Force remains committed to the professional advancement of its members, recognising that investing in their knowledge and skills is vital to meeting the evolving demands of both the Force and the nation it serves
