GDF HONOURS ITS ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS

The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) today hosted its annual Appreciation Luncheon for serving Administrative Professionals in observance of Administrative Professionals’ Day 2026.

This year’s observance was held under the global theme, “Dear Admin: The Power We Carry, The Responsibility We Choose.” The GDF continues to recognise the strength, commitment, and value of administrative professionals across the Force.

Colonel General Staff, Colonel Kenlloyd Roberts, MSM, in brief remarks, acknowledged the significant behind-the-scenes contributions of administrative personnel, noting that their service is critical to the effective functioning of the organisation. He emphasised that they are invaluable members of the Force and expressed appreciation for their professionalism, discretion, and the essential support they provide daily to the various units of the Force.

Adding further perspective to the observance, Staff Sergeant (Ret’d) Dr Jessie Albertha Thom, a highly accomplished administrative professional who has served the Force, Government, and country with distinction, shared remarks. She underscored that administrative work extends far beyond filing and typing, highlighting its central role in organisational effectiveness through coordination, communication, problem-solving, and operational support.

During today’s observance, the Force’s  Administrative professionals were also presented with tokens of appreciation in recognition of their dedicated service.

In attendance were Branch Heads, Senior Officers, Commanding Officers, the Force Sergeant Major, and Sergeant Majors from various departments and units. Their presence underscored the importance placed on recognising and honouring administrative professionals, whose critical support ensures the effective functioning of the Force and the successful execution of its mission.
