BASE CAMP AYANGANNA CONDUCTS MUSTER FOR OPERATIONAL READINESS

Written by

This morning, troops from various units at Base Camp Ayanganna assembled for the routine flag-raising ceremony and base muster. The activity reinforced discipline, turnout, and operational readiness, key tenets of military professionalism.

Unit Commanders, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs), and other ranks were present and participated in a full kit and appearance inspection. Addressing the ranks, Base Commander Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Nedd reminded the ranks that the foundation of a mission-ready force lies in attention to detail, military bearing, and adherence to standards. He stated that being a soldier is a patriotic calling that requires discipline, resilience, and commitment, and that readiness must be constant and standards maintained without compromise.

The inspection focused on dress, the serviceability of field gear, and compliance with Force regulations. Unit Commanders and SNCOs were instructed to correct deficiencies and ensure proper enforcement at the unit level.

Lieutenant Colonel Nedd emphasized that the success of the Force depends on consistent discipline and accountability, and that leaders must continue to lead by example and uphold the standards expected of a professional military force.

The muster served as a reminder that military service demands continuous vigilance and preparedness. Routine inspections remain critical tools to ensure cohesion, efficiency, and response capability.

It remains the priority of the Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan, MSS, that all ranks remain combat-ready, properly equipped, and aligned with the mission and values of the Guyana Defence Force.
