Ranks of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) turned out in strong numbers across multiple locations to support the nationwide clean-up exercise initiated by His Excellency, President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, reinforcing the Force’s continued commitment to national development and community well-being.

At the national level, Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d), the Honourable Mark Phillips, led activities on the ground in Houston, East Bank Demerara, as members of the Cabinet, Government officials, and the Joint Services mobilised across various regions in a coordinated effort alongside residents and community groups.

Within the Force, Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan, MSS, joined officers and other ranks in active participation, underscoring the importance of leadership presence in initiatives of national significance. Across operational areas, GDF personnel engaged in clearing drains, removing debris, and restoring public spaces, working in close collaboration with residents to improve sanitation and environmental conditions.

The exercise reflects the Guyana Defence Force’s broader role in supporting national initiatives beyond its core defence mandate, while strengthening its connection with the communities it serves. It also highlights the value of collective action in promoting environmental responsibility and safeguarding public health.

The Guyana Defence Force remains committed to supporting initiatives that contribute to the sustainable development and overall well-being of Guyana.
